Is it true that West London is richer then east london?

I heard some where that west london is the richer side and east london is poorer side is it True?Is it true that West London is richer then east london?
This is true and is not peculiar to London. Historically, with prevailing winds from the south-west, industrial smoke tended to drift north-eastwards, so those who could afford to choose where to live tended to gravitate towards the western side of the city. Action to tackle local smoke pollution has only been taken during the past sixty years.

Contrary to someone else's suggestion, Canary Wharf in Tower Hamlets is not a residential building. The relative poverty of east London is one reason why the lower Lea Valley has been chosen as the focus for the 2012 Olympic Games. Is it true that West London is richer then east london?
I've lived all over London since the late 1970's. 'The East End' was always associated with poverty, now it's associated with Bangladesh mostly, travel further east to Essex borders and so on and it gets better.

The renovated docklands districts are visible prosperity, the St. Katherine's dock beneath Tower bridge is home to the super rich who will have paid over a million for their place...and the rest if it's the Ivory house.

West London, Mayfair, Kensington,Knightsbridge and Chelsea are where wealth makes it self clear everywhere, as it is mostly owned by the Oil sheiks and other Arabs now, no surprise...but the tower blocks of Housing estates that peep over the suburban areas show the poor still rub shoulders though.

Go too far West, like Heston and the Airport district and you've left Britain without getting on a plane!

High immigration areas are hard to explain... neither rich nor poor.

I find it curious you spell West London with capitals, but east london in lower case......West London is obviously a more prosperous place generally speaking.
In the past, yes, but now that they have built Canary Wharf in East London, it houses a lot of rich people.

The whole of London has pockets of poverty and pockets of wealth. Some parts of West London are nice but some are hideous. Similarly there are parts of East London that are beautiful and other parts not so.
Of course West London is richer, have a look at Chelsea, Kensington, Hammersmith, Fulham, Richmond, Twickenham, Ealing and Staines etc. So many millionaires live in these boroughs.
Definitely true :-)
No! Where on earth did you get that from!?!!
Mostly yes
