To what extent is it true that america was more influential than the ussr in the middle east?

I'm doing a paper with this as a title and I need opinions, reasons and evidence. Please help people =PTo what extent is it true that america was more influential than the ussr in the middle east?
So, you went out on a limb with what you thought was a bold assertion: ';The United States was more influential than the Soviet Union in the Middle East,'; and now you need to back up your assertion with evidence that actually proves it? No wonder you need help.

Well, you can begin by taking Iran and Iraq off your list of Middle East countries, then Syria, as well as the People's Democratic Republic of Yemen, and Palestine. Egypt was first on my list, but because of the decrease in Soviet influence there, it got put on the bottom of my list, but I still would be careful when trying to claim the U.S. was more influential than the Soviets in this country. So what does that leave you with? Other than Israel, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, I think you will need to solicit a lot more opinions, reasons, and evidence to support and prove your assertion to be true.

p.s. India was the most important country outside of the Middle East for the Soviets to spread their influence. To what extent is it true that america was more influential than the ussr in the middle east?
Thanks voters, and your welcome - candprincess. Is that how you show your gratitude?
