On a flight from LA to Dallas, I overheard an older lady telling the passenger in the seat next to her, ';I'm going to Texas to visit my family. I was afraid to go out there because I thought you had to ride a horse everywhere. Then I learned that everyone in Texas drives a Cadillac and decided it was okay.';

It seems quite a lot of Americans seem to think Brits all live in thatched cottages with roses round the door and aristocrats riding along in carriages.
