Is so, why is this?Is it true that East Indian Men ONLY marry virgins?
Virginity is a much expected/valued virtue.


So, yes, most traditional marriages, especially when arranged, do presume virginity of the bride as well as the groom.


But divorcee/widow marriages which are often referred to as ';re-marriages'; obviously do not make such an assumption.





Of course, current mindsets are changing. But as in anywhere else around the world, women are often held to a higher moral standard than men.


Just like a woman with many boyfriends is called a w**** or s*** in America, but a man would be called a ';player';, so in India, a man might be pardoned for pre-marital sex, but a woman would be chastised.

Marriage is still considered a sacred event in one's life in India (Hinu Law) and eventually, the parents of boys and girls arranged those marriages. Virginity was one of the values for such arranged marriages, apart from family, education, look, hereditary disease etc. So, there were less scope of individual choice earlier. But with the changing time and acceptance of Dating concept/ bf/ gf by the urban elites living in citys and towns, lot of Indian parents have accepted the choice of their sons and daughters. So, virginity is no longer a detering factor in Urban India.
most Indian marriages are arranged by their parents, so most likely, if they follow tradition, both the girl and the guy are virgins when they marry.

if you ask me the young indians like me are quite rational and dont mind if their wife is not virgin.only the older guys like who are 30 odd are traditional usually.
I don't think so, because even if one were to assume all first time brides were virgins then it would also assume that widows never remarry, which doesn't seem likely.

MOstly yes, unless there's someone who is really desperate who wanna have it right now. Then he really doesn't look if its a virgin or not.
