Is it true that the East London has a bad reputation?

Places like Ilford, Stratford, and West Ham??? If it's true why?Is it true that the East London has a bad reputation?
Let's just say that in the places you have mentioned houses prices are amongst the cheapest in London.

Nah, not Stratford, West Ham and the likes, hon! The ';East London'; I believe YOU'RE talkin' about's Shoreditch, Bethnal Green, Stepney and whatnot. Those parts of East London've ALWAYS been known for their villains: yer Krays, (whose former local pub my old man used to drink in), yer Lennie Mc.Clean, (A.K.A. 'The Guv'nah'), Mad Frankie Fraser, (A.K.A. 'The Dentist'- who, for the record, my old dad knew personally), and whatnot. That's the East London YOU'RE talkin' about, my luv. It weren't a nice place THEN, and it sure as bleedin' hell ain't a bloody nice place NOW! And by the way, Ilford's ESSEX, not London. Peace and love! Be lucky! :)
