Is it true it's mandatory to grow a beard in some parts of the Middle East?

They told me you are supposed to grow a beard. I don't know if it's true.

In some places, it may be a strong cultural thing to not ever cut your hair. Most people spend their entire lives there and don't get many visitors, because they're small villages, kind of like small towns. A lot of the middle east is misunderstood though, most of the population resides in big cities. It's not as diverse as most US cities, but it is diverse enough not to make everyone grow a beard. If you're interested in Middle Eastern cities, look up Dubai, Kuwait City, Abu Dhabi and Istanbul.
