Is it true that some countries in the middle east will cut off hands?

if a person is caught stealing? Is it true that some countries in the middle east will cut off hands?
This is correct Islamic punishment.. But in my knowledge none of Islamic countries give such punishment. They are all under the influence of west.Is it true that some countries in the middle east will cut off hands?
This is called deterrance. It is true. And it works too.

Don't listen to the offending bits of other answers..simply nothing to be ashamed of. At the end of the day, they only cut the hands of those who steal very expensive things like proper gold and very valuable stuff. After the cutting off the hands, they wouldn't have to stay in jail and not learn anything!! they would learn from the lesson through pain truly from the heart. And, nowadays, they let the person pick whether they would like their hands cut off or not - because repentance and forgiveness also exist and many people seem to forget that Islam doesn't prefer these punishments, but it's something put forward because at the end of the day there are 'no rules without punishments'. And these punishments are mainly put forward to make the person scared, or to stop them from doing it again and not to transgress rules of Islam. Helps the society, clever eh?
Yes but only under certain circumstances. They don't cut a hand off for someone stealing an apple! I have been to several Muslim countries and have yet to see a person walking around with one hand so what does that tell you? Not much stealing going on, its a deterrent. It has to be of a value over a certain amount and its for people who are also repeat offenders.

If someone where to break into my home and it was not the first time they had robbed someones home then yeah I would say chop his hand off. So many elderly people are robbed and never feel safe or at peace again. There would be a lot less robbery in the west if it was the case. Thief is a serious crime and should be treated as such. I just saw on TV CCT footage of an old lady in the Post Office collecting her money watched by one guy. He followed her to a shop and 3 other men surrounded her as they took her money. If that was your mother, grandmother or daughter would you say ''Yeah just give them a 拢200 fine and 20 hours community service''? So they are free again to terrorize someone elses Grandmother? So tell me who is Barbaric? The thieves or the punishment they receive? I know which side of the fend I stand on!
You are a pathetic retarded keffer and if you are near me now I pound you so hard you will be telling me about sticks and stones and how you can glue them together. MORON!

Your fame you try to earn is of no avail, you are about the most retarded person I have ever read anything from.

The difference between you and what I flushed in the toilet is you are still here! WEIRD HUH?
yes they cut off hands of thieves...

But they would rather behead people like you and piss on your grave because you = Infidel....

Why am i being nasty? Some motherfu$er suspended my RIGHTLY GUIDED account. I suspect he is an infidel who did that!
that IS islamic punishment, but then what do you the west will say about that? That would just be proof to them that we're some sort of uncivilized and barbaric religon, which we are not
only if you stole something!!!

but, actually.. it don't suggest to do that.. if someone forgive what they do (stole the things) it didn't have to do
Yes, that's the Islamic rule.

Not all stealing. And there are conditions apply. Though stealing an ant or elephant, both are called thieves.
I believe so.

That will make people think twice before they steal.

Same way how here in America, if someone commits murder, they can get the death penalty.

It's harsh, and makes people think twice before they do something stupid.
Only if you are a kaffir non-believer like me. But I wouldn't go there without a few guns and knives. I'd cut their balls off if they went after my hands.
Yes what's wrong with that? it teaches to leave the property of people alone or you loose some thing that you value the way your victim valued their own property
cosign what happily happy said
Yeah

thief no mercy for you!
hmmmmmmmmmmm, so what have you stolen??????????????
Only if theft is repeated multiple times.

But its barbaric the koran doesn't suggest amputation for theft, its is man made thing.

Say a company/ institution is robbing and looting general public. That also classifies as thieving and stealing, so how will you cut the hand of the institution? Assume they are judged and found guilty.

Legally speaking a company is a separate legal entity, the company can be sued but not its owners.

[Yusufali 5:38] As to the thief, Male or female, cut off his or her hands: a punishment by way of example, from Allah, for their crime: and Allah is Exalted in power.

Yusufali 5:39] But if the thief repents after his crime, and amends his conduct, Allah turneth to him in forgiveness; for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.

[Shakir 12:31] So when she heard of their sly talk she sent for them and prepared for them a repast, and gave each of them a knife, and said (to Yusuf): Come forth to them. So when they saw him, they deemed him great, and cut their hands (in amazement), and said: Remote is Allah (from imperfection); this is not a mortal; this is but a noble angel.

Now compare the two 'cuts'. The same arabic word is used for both. So did the women chop their hands off when they saw Yusuf? or they cut (marked) their hands?
No.

Don't think so.

Look in the real world.
